I do most wire wrapping by hand and use pliers only on last half an inch. You can also oxidize the finished piece instead of wire.

Next time I will take a picture without hand and also from back side. Remind me please if I won't send it to you within 2 weeks. Tutorial is too time consuming but I can answer your questions after you will see the photos.
The hand you can get in some bead stores, jewelry tools stores and probably on-line.

Probably. Usually I use no smaller than 28 and for rings even 26 seems too fragile, I like steady things.
